We are proud to celebrate Choi Min Seo, also known as Jerome, who has been accepted to Seoul National University, Korea’s most prestigious institution.

Jerome has been part of our community since Grade 6. While he once dreamed of studying at an American university, his path changed in high school, leading him to pursue higher education in his home country. He will begin his studies in Statistics, with plans to explore Chemistry and Economics in the future.

Reflecting on the moment he received the acceptance letter, Jerome shared, “I really didn’t expect to be accepted in the March application. My documents weren’t fully ready, and I hadn’t completed all my AP exams. I was aiming for the July round, so when I got in early, I was extremely surprised and happy.”

One of the greatest challenges he faced during the application process was preparing the required documents. “Compared to writing the personal statement, documents were more difficult. The essay was about who I am, and that part came naturally.”

When asked what helped him stand out, Jerome pointed to his academic growth and involvement. His GPA saw consistent improvement, reaching a perfect score by his senior year. Additionally, he completed over 150 hours of internship and accumulated around 250 hours of volunteer work.

One of Jerome’s most meaningful contributions to the school was his role as a student intern in our Athletics Department. Mr. Scott, our High School PE and Athletic Director, shared:

“Jerome was extremely valuable to us. He interned all three seasons and served as our lead intern. He took on massive responsibility with game day operations and supported us through multiple tournaments. He attended nearly every game, and I had complete trust in him throughout his internship. I awarded him certificates for almost 160 volunteer hours and recognized him with our Most Valuable Intern award.

Jerome also expressed his deep appreciation for Ms. Yen, our Registrar, for her unwavering support during a crucial moment in his application, when an important document was missing. “Without her help, I don’t know what I would have done,” he said. He also thanked Mr. Ethan, who wrote his recommendation letter, and his parents for their support and trust.

Known for his balanced approach to academics, Jerome believes in the importance of taking rest and self-discipline. “If I don’t get enough sleep, all of my studying becomes meaningless. I make sure to sleep eight to ten hours a day, and then use my waking hours to focus.”

To fellow students, he offers simple advice: “Sleep and be free.” And to parents, he shares a powerful reminder: “Let your children rest and give them the freedom to manage their studies. When students are trusted, they often perform even better.”

Congratulations, Jerome. Your journey is continuing with growth and dedication. We are excited to see what your future holds.
