Our dedicated full-time University Guidance Counselor works closely with students and their families to discover aspirations and future goals. College advice is consistently given with the student’s wishes at the center of the decision-making process. We guide students and families completely through the steps toward the best college for the student.
In the time leading up to the application stage, our College and Career counselor attends regular meetings with High School students. The counselor helps with a focus on creating a stress-free, understandable, and informative decision-making process.
We are here for class selection, college applications, extracurricular activities, Summer programs, and also offer career advice. Students and their families are encouraged to reach out to our counselor at any time to ask questions, request information, or seek guidance.

We have students that apply to systems all over the world and that can be a bit daunting and confusing for families if they’re not familiar with that. So my job is to eliminate that confusion, make them feel comfortable about where they’re applying to, what they need to do to apply, and also is to provide them options because it really is all about the right fit for the student. No matter what it is, they’re going to be prepared to be successful in any of those environments.
Recently, we have had some really good success with some elite universities globally, including Harvard and Yale and Dartmouth, Cornell, Stanford, and in all of my coordination and contacts with admissions counselors from these universities, they’re the ones that keep telling us, we know what we’re getting from a St. Paul student, keep doing what you’re doing. It is very reassuring to know that we’re giving good advice and that we’re doing exactly what the universities are looking for in their students.
Applying to college is a very stressful process and Mr. Gus has just always been the most supportive, kindest person ever. Mr. Gus is super helpful in terms of asking about college preparations.
Mr. Gus helped me with countless things. He helped me with fixing my essays, expanding my thoughts, selecting which universities to apply, planning all the APs that I have to take from my freshman to senior year. He and I interacted with each other frequently, almost once a week.
