Welcome to the website of our beloved school community, St. Paul American School Hanoi!
Our school was founded in 2011 to provide a unique American-style education for the local and international students in Hanoi. Over time, our school community has become a sought after destination for students and families that want to be prepared for the rigors of university and the workforce.
I believe you are visiting this website because you are looking for a school to call home. While there are many quality schools in the country, St. Paul American School Hanoi is truly special because we focus on the holistic needs of our students. As an educational institution, we do a great job of meeting the academic needs of our students. However, our focus is also on the social, emotional, mental and physical development of our learners because we believe that meeting these needs is not only the right thing to do, but it will truly help our students lead from the front.
I encourage you to look through the contents of this website to learn more about our school and to make an appointment to visit us. I am confident that you will see the dedication we have to learning when you come to our campus.
Sincerely,
Dr. Myong Hwan ‘Moo’ Eiselstein
Executive Director
Dear St Paul Elementary Community,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the life of Elementary students at St Paul American School Hanoi! We believe in educating the whole child with a focus on Social Emotional wellbeing of our students, staff, and families. By providing a safe environment where students feel confident to express themselves creatively, effectively communicate with others, and feel they are appreciated as unique individuals, they will naturally take risks with their academic endeavors.
We meet our students’ needs by differentiating instruction, and carefully create a learning environment where students thrive. Using the Common Core US standards, we educate our students using a range of teaching strategies that engage, educate and empower our global citizens. Our excellent teaching staff craft units of study for students in all academic areas. We start each day with a Morning Meeting to ground our learning in the Social Emotional aspect of working together with friends and communicating our feelings in effective and kind ways.
Our young learners learn to work together in the homeroom classrooms as well as in our Specials classes: Art, PE, STEAM, Music, and Vietnamese Culture Studies. Our SPELL teachers support learning in a collaborative approach to help improve English Language skills each day. Each homeroom class is supported by a Vietnamese Assistant Teacher who works with teachers and students throughout the day. We are a village here at St Paul! The foundation we create here at our school will pave the way for future learning. We embed our Core Values – Respect, Integrity, Honesty, Responsibility, and Creativity – in all we do each day as we care for our youngest learners.
We strive to work together with parents to support our students and I hope you feel free to reach out if you have any questions about your child’s education here at St Paul American School Hanoi!
Warm regards,
Ms. Kimberly Marantos
Elementary School Principal
Greetings St. Paul American School Middle School Community,
In the 2021-2022 school year, the SPASH board of management, upon hearing strong feedback from our parent community, made the decision to separate the middle and high schools. I was given the great honor and responsibility of serving as principal of our middle school, a role that I am both proud and excited to return to this school year.
By providing a distinct middle school experience for our students, SPASH acknowledges the immense importance of the 6-8th grade years. These years mark the beginning of adolescence, a period of tremendous physical, psychological, and socio-emotional growth and change in children. During these years, children begin to truly develop their own identity. It is a time of testing and exploring, as they seek to find themselves and how they connect to the world around them. They need a safe, consistent, and familiar environment in which to successfully engage in this process. And that is exactly what we seek to provide in the SPASH Middle School. From 6th to 8th grade SPASH middle school students will be held to progressively increasing levels of academic challenge and rigor. The supports of the elementary years are gradually removed, requiring them to learn greater personal responsibility, intrinsic motivation, and an array of necessary skills, such as organization & time management, as they prepare for high school.
These are some of the most important years in your child’s development, and we are honored that you are entrusting them to us for their education and development. We are partners in your child’s growth, and are committed to working with you to help your child navigate these years. Should you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. It is my pleasure to assist you in any way I can.
Best Regards,
Mr. John North
Middle School Principal
Dear St. Paul Community,
I am honored to be the High School Principal for this community. My focus is on helping the high school live out the Mission and Core Values of St. Paul. We produce students who are Engaged, Educated, and Empowered Global Citizens who exhibit Respect, Integrity, Honesty, Responsibility, and Creativity on a regular basis. I am responsible for ensuring our high school students and staff have meaningful and engaging educational experiences in a rigorous and supportive environment.
We are extremely proud of the students and teachers we have and what they achieve both in and out of the classroom. Please take a look at what St. Paul has to offer. Our students leave SPASH highly prepared for the next step in their lives, no matter where they go or what they do anywhere in the world. Choosing where your children go to school is a monumental decision. Rest assured, they will be challenged and supported in all areas of their development here at SPASH.
Please contact me if you need assistance. I look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Mr. TJ Shiers
High School Principal
