Varsity and Junior Varsity Volleyball

This volleyball season has been nothing else but amazing. Compared to last year, we’ve grown so much, winning way more games and proving how strong we’ve become as one team. It was a season full of moments to celebrate, cheer, face challenges, and end with memories that will stay with us for a long time.
One of the best highlights of the season was finishing second in the Hanoi Athletic Conference (HAC). That was a huge achievement for us and a real turning point, showing just how far we’ve come.

And then there was the match against Concordia International School Hanoi’s Thunderteam. It was a nail-
biter, one of the closest games we’ve ever played. Even though we didn’t win, it proved we could stand toe-to-
toe with a really strong team, battling for every dig, spike, and block.

This year, the ASEAN Sports and Activities Conference (ASAC) was held at Concordia, and it was a tough experience for us. We finished 9th out of 10 teams, which wasn’t the result we had hoped for. But we didn’t
let that define us. In our final game, we faced ACG International School Jakarta and gave it everything we had. That win wasn’t just about the points—it was about finishing strong, showing our resilience, and proving to ourselves what we’re capable of.

This season wouldn’t have been the same without some standout players. Giyeol Park, or “Kimchi,” and Honor Czeczuga deserve special recognition for their incredible kills and consistency on the attack. Our fantastic libero, Van An Luong, anchored the team’s defense with countless saves that turned the tide in our
favor. And we can’t forget our necessary setter, Gia Khang Ly, or “GK,” whose precise sets gave our hitters the
perfect opportunities to shine. Together, they played crucial roles in making this a season to remember.

Looking to the future, it’s hard not to feel excited. With so many strong players, especially the talented 10th
graders from the House of 2027, we’re expected to be even better next year. Other schools should be ready—
we’re coming back stronger, smarter, and more determined than ever.

This year wasn’t just about the games, though. It was about engagement—putting in the work, showing up for
each other, and giving it everything we had both on and off the court. We’ve grown so much, both as
individuals and as a team. And it feels like this is only the beginning.

Now, as we end our volleyball and swimming season, the high school basketball, baseball, and badminton
seasons have just embarked their journey. With this current momentum we have, we are looking forward to
seeing our athletes bring the same passion and energy on the courts and fields. Stay tuned—it’s going to be an
exciting season!

Eagles Volleyball vs. RGSV

The Eagles Varsity Girls gave it their all, but RGSV ultimately secured the victory. The game began with Jacqueline scoring 3 points off her serves, but RGSV quickly gained momentum, scoring consecutively. Number 7 stood out in the first set, dominating with her serves and leading the team with aggressive attacks, backed by solid receivers. The game ended with scores 14-25 and 20:25 for set 1 and set 2.

The Eagles Varsity Boys started off strong in both Set 1 and Set 2, scoring consecutively and maintaining the lead throughout the game. Their aggressive attacks, combined with solid receiving and defense, set the tone for the match. Van An stood out, handling numerous passes with precision, while Honor played a key role in securing points with his powerful spikes. His spike attempts were highly successful, significantly boosting the team’s score beyond RGSV. The match concluded with a decisive victory, with set scores of 25:15 and 25:19, resulting in a 2-0 win for the Eagles.

Volleyball Senior Night

Volleyball Senior Night was an unforgettable event, honoring the senior athletes who have dedicated so much to the team. Each senior made an impressive entrance, accompanied by their mother or a favorite teacher, receiving a cool poster as a token of appreciation for their commitment. It was a heartfelt moment, full of smiles and pride.

The celebration continued as the seniors ran alongside their teammates, sharing high-fives and words of encouragement. This display of friendship perfectly set the stage for the evening’s games.

The Varsity Boys showcased impressive teamwork and strategy, 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐-𝟎. The Varsity Girls played with heart and determination in a match that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats. With the pep band playing and thundersticks booming, the support from the audience was electric.

A huge thanks to the seniors, their families, the coaches, and the fans for making this Senior Night a truly memorable and inspiring event!

SPASH Volleyball Team Battles Hard Against HIS

In the last match which was full of
competitiveness and intensity,
our SPASH Vasity volleyball
teams, playing at home, went up
against Hanoi International
School (HIS). Our players
demonstrated an excellent
epitome of a full dedication into
the game, showcasing passions on
the court and even from the
benches. Although both of our
girls teams lost 1-2, there were
plenty of positive takeaways from
the game, especially during the
second set, where we secured a
hard-fought 29-27 victory.
SPASH’s improvement compared
to last year is clear, as the team
managed to take a set this time,
whereas they consistently lost 2-0
in previous matchups.

The second set, played by boys, was
the most intense point of the match.
Our players remained calm under
pressure, coming from the situation
where every single point was worth a
big deal, showing great teamwork.
Key players like Zhao An Tan, Gia
Khang Ly, Gi Yeol Park, and Honor
Czeczuga played significant roles
that made the opponents struggle.
What stood out from their play was
their linkage in the attack, which had
improved remarkably. Adding on,
mistakes were also less frequent,
minimizing unnecessary points lost.
It wasn’t just about individual
performances either; the entire team
composed together, pushing for
every point and refusing to back
down, showing how far we’ve come in
just two months.

Though the final set didn’t go our
way, one thing was crystal clear: the
rapid improvements. Our players are
building stronger communication on
the court, reacting faster, spiking
harder, and most importantly, passing
correctly to neatly build up attacks.
We’re learning to play as a cohesive
accord, which is starting to reflect in
the way we handle pressure-filled
situations. This progress is a big sign
of how much potential the team has.
While our SPASH Volleyball team
worked on the court, we also observed
players’ individual efforts and goals
set. The goals of most players were to
focus on their volleyball skills and
practicing more. Some had even more
specific goals such as to “gain more
muscles” or to “jump spike serve ace in
a match,” and these goals are either
gradually or rapidly being close to
successes.

Again, it seems really obvious that our
team has been showing a great deal of
improvements in a short amount of
time. Granted, they will continue to
put more and more dedication into

their practices and self-
improvements. As a leading effect,

SPASH volleyball will soon be able to
not only compete against those good
volleyball teams like UNIS and
Concordia but also aim for the win
against them.
As we prepare for our upcoming
matches against RGSV, Concordia,
and the following HAC Cup, there is a
lot of optimism surrounding the team.
With this level of effort and the
continued growth we are seeing, it’s
only a matter of time before we start
turning these close matches into wins.
We believe the future looks bright for
our SPASH volleyball team, and each
game brings us one step closer to
reaching our full potential. Keep it up
SPASH Volleyball!
