Eagle News Elementary – January 2026

Welcome back, Eagles! Our third episode of Elementary Eagle News, was filled with exciting stories, heartfelt goodbyes, and important learning moments as we kicked off the new semester.

Eagle News Highlights: Winter Break Stories, New Beginnings, and the Importance of Sleep

Winter Break Adventures

To start the show, our Eagle News team shared what they did over winter break and invited classmates to do the same. Aiden took us on a virtual journey to a beautiful mountain hotel in northern Vietnam, where he spent the last day of 2025 and the first day of 2026 surrounded by green mountains and peaceful scenery. Designed by renowned architect Bill Bensley, the hotel and nearby Yenu Village helped Aiden slow down, relax, and reconnect with nature. It was a calm and meaningful way to begin the new year, and we loved hearing how the trip helped him rest both his body and mind.

Farewells to Our Eagle News Team Members

This episode also included some emotional goodbyes as we said farewell to several Eagle News crew members who are leaving St. Paul. Students shared what they will miss most, friends, teachers and favorite cafeteria foods like bún chả and carbonara pasta. While we are sad to see them go, we are grateful for their contributions to Eagle News and wish them all the best in their next adventures.

A New Studio and New Opportunities

There’s exciting change happening behind the scenes! Student reporters introduced the upcoming new Eagle News studio in Mr. Shaw’s classroom. With a brand-new blueprint and lots of enthusiasm, the team is already looking forward to creating even better videos—messy moments and all.

We’re also thrilled to welcome fourth grade interns to the Eagle News team. They will be joining the crew for the rest of this year and returning again next year, giving them valuable experience in media, teamwork, and communication.

Learning About the Importance of Sleep

Students made a special report on why sleep is important. Through a creative skit featuring fifth graders, students learned how sleep affects focus, responsibility, and academic performance.

By comparing report cards and classroom behavior, the segment clearly showed how getting enough sleep can make a big difference in learning and daily life. Part two will continue this important conversation with interviews from Miss Alex, Nurse Tom, and Miss Annie.

That’s a Wrap!

This episode of Eagle News perfectly captured what makes our elementary community so special: student voice, creativity, learning, and care for one another. Thank you to our hosts, reporters, and viewers for another fantastic show. We can’t wait to see what our Eagles share next!
