Music Competition in the U.S. 2025

St. Paul Sound sweeps the awards at Orlandofest in Orlando, Florida, USA.

Music Competition in Orlando, Florida, USA

Top 5% of all US music Programs

St. Paul Sound has been working very hard for years now to work their way up the top with the goal of being the highest scoring groups of the US Music Programs. St. Paul Sound currently holds a ranking in the top 5% of all US Music Programs.

This year, they had the privilege of being invited to compete in Orlando, Florida. Orlandofest is a music festival and performance experience for young musicians. The high-quality musical experience for each student and director is education-based. The event reinforces musical concepts being taught in the classroom.

Orlandfest is an invitation-only event. Participants must meet criteria such as top scores from previous events to be invited. The first part of the competition is how the music groups rate against the music standards, a list of things the musicians should be able to perform. Three judges give written and verbal feedback during the performance on items the group is excelling at and items for improvement. Each area is worth a set amount of points for a total of 100 points. After the judges score the points, the scores are compared to other groups in the same category to earn ranking.

*Eagles Guitar received the highest score of the competition!

14 students received individual trophies for vocal categories soprano, alto, and tenor.  Trophies were also received by individual musicians for instruments like oboe, flute, clarinet, and trumpet.

All three groups earned 1st place in their categories – meaning that our scores were higher than the other schools. For the soloist trophies – the judges can award trophies to any individual musician that they feel is performing above and beyond their peers. Many of our students were awarded personal trophies – more than any other school competing.

The competition was a big part of the trip, and since it took place at Universal Orlando Resort, the students got to explore top attractions in Orlando just outside their front door. When not competing, the musicians visited Harry Potter World and NASA. No trip to Florida would be complete without some fun times on the beach and swimming in the warm ocean.
