Taking on Real-World Business Challenges

The Asia Business Simulation (ABS) is an international business simulation competition organized under the World Youth Economic Forum. It challenges middle and high school students to run virtual companies, make strategic decisions, analyze markets, manage finances, and compete through simulated business challenges and pitch roadshows.

One of the toughest moments for My Anh’s team came during the second Roadshow. After weeks of researching Yeahgelato, the brand they represented as a sales agency, the team developed a strategy focused on strengthening its presence in Vietnam.

Just hours before the presentation, the organizers announced that their scope would be limited to the Chinese market. The team suddenly had to rethink its market research, strategy, budget, and financial calculations.

As the person responsible for the team’s finances, My Anh was under significant pressure. However, the team quickly reorganized, adapted its strategy, and worked together under the tight deadline.

Their efforts paid off. Company 47 Solviera won 1st Place in the Roadshow and earned an additional Medal for the round.

I told myself to stay calm, be brave, and believe in myself.

Turning Financial Analysis into Strategy

The competition gave My Anh an opportunity to apply financial concepts to real business decisions. She worked with costs, projected revenue, profit, ROI, customer demand, market share, risks, and conversion rates to understand the potential impact of different strategies.

For My Anh, the experience changed the way she viewed finance:

Financial analysis is not simply about calculating profit. It is about using data and assumptions to assess risks, evaluate the potential return on an investment, compare short-term costs with long-term benefits, and determine whether a strategy is financially sustainable.

Growing Through the St. Paul Experience

Now in her second year at St. Paul, My Anh says the school’s academic environment and supportive community have encouraged her to become more independent and step outside her comfort zone.

She particularly appreciates St. Paul’s flexible approach to learning, where students have opportunities to choose classes based on their interests and take greater responsibility for managing their learning.

My Anh also gives special thanks to Mr. Ethan, her basketball coach, for encouraging her to trust herself, overcome fear, and keep moving forward. Those lessons helped her remain confident during challenging moments at ABS.

Advice for Future Business Competitors

My Anh’s advice to students interested in ABS or other international business competitions is simple: research deeply, pay attention to detail, and be ready to adapt.

Her team went through numerous drafts and ideas before developing its final business plan—and still had to rebuild its strategy just hours before a major presentation.

For My Anh, the experience proved that success requires more than business knowledge. It takes discipline, teamwork, adaptability, analytical thinking, and the confidence to keep improving when plans change.

Looking Ahead

Following her success at the ABS Global Round 2026, My Anh plans to continue participating in different competitions and exploring new fields.

Her goal is to discover what she is truly passionate about, understand her strengths, and use these experiences to make better decisions about her future.

Congratulations to My Anh and Company 47 Solviera on this remarkable international achievement!
