Last year student, staff and parent game volunteers chose what charity they wanted to donate to. This year we went with a different approach and decided on one local charity organization to raise funds for – HopeBox. This decision stemmed from Vietnam Women’s Day being so close to Halloween and aligned with our school’s fundraising policy. HopeBox trains local women who are victims of gender-based violence. We’re so appreciative that HopeBox attended the event, educated students on their charity and decorated Halloween cookies with everyone!
Typically, we’re able to invite our entire community of teachers, students and parents. Due to Vietnam visitor restrictions for schools this year, we were only able to have some parents attend the event for volunteering. Even with less attending, our wonderful community was able to raise more than 28,000,000 VND for HopeBox! The money raised will help empower these women, have the tools to learn new skills, provide paid-work accommodation and become more independent for their future.
