St. Paul teaching staff attended a fantastic professional development workshop with author, educator and EAL specialist, Dr. Honigsfeld, who is a Professor in the Division of Education at Molloy College, Rockville Centre, NY. In addition to teaching graduate education courses related to linguistic diversity and ESL methodology, Dr. Honigsfeld offers professional development training for teachers on ways to differentiate instruction for multilingual learners.
Our teachers were able to gain some insightful strategies for supporting multilingual learners, which is so beneficial for our international student body. St. Paul Secondary SPELL (EAL) Coordinator, Mrs. Blaire Hart, was really excited by what today’s session brought to our teaching staff. “Her work provides educators with strategies for supporting not only multilingual learners but all students who are learning academic English. We are looking forward to continuing this professional dialogue throughout the rest of the year.”
