I was born in British Columbia, Canada, but spent most of my life in the USA. I was inspired to go into teaching by my high school biology teacher. She made learning relevant by providing her students with real life experiences and by taking an interest in us. As a teacher, I strive to be the kind of teacher that brings out enthusiasm for learning and inspires kids to be lifelong learners.
My experience includes leading students in grades 2-5 as an elementary teacher, PK-5 as a science and design specialist, creating curriculum and leading teacher training, serving as the Lead Teacher at a science, math, and engineering magnet school, teaching middle school marine science for an Outward Bound school on an island in The middle of Boston Harbor, developing science and design programs at schools in the US, Korea and Vietnam, and being the principal of a successful JK-5 STEM summer program during the height of covid. This year marks the beginning of my 39th year in education.
