Biography

Mr. Robert (Bob) Bowley was born in North Carolina but raised in central New York State. Mr. Bowley earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in British and American Literature from Utica College of Syracuse University. After realizing teaching was his life calling, he completed a Master’s Degree program in Secondary Education at the College of St. Rose in Albany, New York. Soon after, Mr. Bowley was offered a chance to teach English in Japan as part of the JET Program(me). Mr. Bowley ended up spending 19 years in Japan working in a variety of different jobs and locations and can speak Japanese fluently. Mr. Bowley returned to the United States in 2011 and has been teaching a wide range of subjects and has served as a College Counselor and Head of School at one of the top high schools in the United States. Mr. Bowley has three children, a son who is in college and two high school daughters. In his free time, Mr. Bowley enjoys traveling, photography, reading, and video editing. In the classroom, Mr. Bowley strives to create a welcoming and enjoyable learning environment where everyone’s ideas and thoughts are valued and appreciated and where the love of language is cultivated.
