About Honk! Jr.:

Conceived in 1996 by Music Theatre International’s co-Chairman, Freddie Gershon, Broadway Junior® musicals are condensed, author-approved versions of classic musicals, Disney favorites and modern works, custom-tailored to the needs of young people and schools. The music is written in keys that are appropriate for developing voices, and all shows can be expanded to accommodate many more performers than a typical production.

Vocal Concert with St. Paul Elementary students:

Our version of Honk, Jr. takes the concept of developing young voices even further by presenting it in a concert version. Songs that are normally sung by soloists are presented by groups of students while the dialogue is spoken by individuals who auditioned for each role.

Musical Numbers

All elementary students were involved in the story telling of this version of the Ugly Duckling.

Dancing Ducklings

We feature performances from Ms. Sophie’s dance beyond, as young dancers told the story of the ducklings with movement and music.

Artwork by students

Artwork created in Ms. Raquel’s art classes was on display on the stage, with illustrations of the characters in the story. Artwork in the lobby was from Ms. Toni’s arts and crafts beyond, Ms. Lexi’s SPELL class, and Ms. Liz’s kindergarden students. We hope you will also enjoy the projects on display in the lobby, all centered around the themes explored in tonight’s concert.
